CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Brian Vickers will drive a full-time Nationwide Series schedule for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013, with Dollar General as the primary sponsor.

The announcement came on Tuesday as JGR made official an extension with Dollar General that includes 17 Sprint Cup races with Matt Kenseth, including the Daytona 500, which he has won twice in his career.

Home Depot will return to Kenseth's car for most of the remaining races.

Vickers will make his debut in the No. 20 JGR Nationwide car this weekend at Phoenix. The return to Nationwide full-time next year comes 10 years after he became the youngest driver to win the second-tier series title at the age of 20.

Vickers also will drive in nine Sprint Cup races for Michael Waltrip Racing in the No. 55 he will share with Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip in 2013.

JGR is expected to name Elliott Sadler the driver of its other full-time Nationwide car. Sadler currently is tied for the series lead with defending champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in a Richard Childress Racing car.

"I'm very happy to stay in the Toyota family, and when you look at the Nationwide Series over the past several years, no team has dominated like Joe Gibbs Racing," Vickers said in a team release.

Vickers has three Nationwide wins, all coming during his 2003 championship season for Hendrick Motorsports. He recently said his goal is to be in a full-time Cup ride at MWR by 2014.

Vickers' Cup career has been in limbo since Red Bull Racing folded after the 2011 season. In eight races for MWR this year he has three top-5 and five top-10 finishes.

Vickers will be in one of two JGR cars running for the Nationwide championship. The organization plans to field a third car shared by Cup driver Denny Hamlin, possibly Kenseth and developmental drivers Drew Herring and Darrell Wallace Jr.
