DEERFIELD -- Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich has a right hip strain and is day to day after having an MRI taken Sunday.
Hinrich left Saturday night's win against the Minnesota Timberwolves late in the first half.
"We'll see how he responds," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said after practice Sunday.
Thibodeau declared Nate Robinson the starter for Hinrich in Monday night's game against the Boston Celtics while rookie Marquis Teague will back him up. Both played extended minutes Saturday after Hinrich left.
"He's capable," Thibodeau said of Teague. "It's a big jump going from college to the pros. He's right where he should be."
Hinrich was 0 for 4 from the field with three assists before leaving. He's battled injuries throughout his career, including a groin strain in training camp. There's no immediate timetable for his return.
Robinson led the Bulls with 18 points in 31 minutes Saturday.
