Sports TV network to use Olympic broadcast center
LONDON -- Part of the broadcast center used by the world's media during the London Olympics will be converted into a production hub for a new sports television network.
Communications giant BT has signed a 10-year lease to be the anchor tenant of the building in Olympic Park.
Conversion work will start Feb. 1 ahead of next summer's launch of BT Sport, which paid $395 million a season to become a new broadcast partner for the English Premier League.
The deal is part of London Mayor Boris Johnson's efforts to secure a revenue-generating legacy for all Olympic venues.
Next week, West Ham is expected to be confirmed as the preferred bidder to take over the Olympic Stadium.
