'Kickstart 4' revs up this rider

Anticipating the new Transworld MX video "Kickstart 4," which was released on iTunes and DVD on Dec. 4, I was looking forward to watching my first MX video since 2005. I was excited to see my favorite riders on and off the bikes. As a rider, nothing gets you more amped up to get out on a bike than watching your favorite or a new MX video.

Some of the featured riders in "Kickstart 4" are Marvin Musquin, Trey Canard, Chad Reed, Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg, Robbie Maddison, Eli Tomac, Justin Bogle and Ronnie Mac. From racing, FMX, skits and behind-the-scenes interviews, this video appeals to all motocross types. You get to see what life is like for these riders throughout their very own private Idahos.

Some of the best parts are the Bogle, Reed and Tomac sections. Getting an inside look at what these guys do on a day-to-day basis is inspiring and motivating. For many fans and riders who live far from major MX parks, the only time they get to watch top riders is either on TV or in videos. You'll see these riders cutting up laps, shooting guns or racing shifter karts on Reed's freshly paved track.

Mac's humorous skits and the Twitch vs. Maddo pranks show the lighter side of the riders and the sport. Mac's character's sole mission is to show everyone in Shawnee, Okla., that overall jeans and Pabst Blue Ribbon make him more appealing to women than winning a Supercross main event. And in one practical joke, Twitch's freshly shaved head gets a sweet food coloring dye job.

My only disappointment in the video was not seeing enough of the riders' personalities. Who are these guys when they're having fun riding? What is life like after practicing when pounding out motos is over?

Despite that, "Kickstart 4" is a good video and it succeeded in pumping me up to go riding.
