FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said Thursday that he believes defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson will be able to play in Sunday's season finale against the Buffalo Bills despite suffering a concussion last week.
Wilkerson, who suffered his concussion in the team's 27-17 Week 16 loss to the San Diego Chargers, has to pass just one more test before being cleared, Ryan said. He did not practice Thursday.
"I think Mo's gonna play," Ryan said. "I think the next step he's got one more test to pass, and then we'll see how it goes."
Wilkerson, who is also dealing with a knee injury, played every defensive snap in the Chargers game, but Ryan did not learn of the concussion until Tuesday.
Wilkerson, 23, has recorded 66 tackles, five sacks, four passes defended and three forced fumbles for the Jets (6-9) this season.
