|Haro's Pat Casey, at home in Yorba Linda, Calif.|
It's not every day that a young rider can make a name for himself in the pro contest scene, but when it does happen, people take notice. That was the situation when it came to Pat Casey. Just a few years ago, he was entering his first major contests riding alongside some of his childhood heros and standing next to them on top of the podium. As a young BMXer, Pat had the support of his family and a dialed backyard ramp to help him hone his skills. Skip ahead to now and the kid rides for Haro Bikes, which is arguably, the most legendary company in all of BMX. He kept his head down, and rode as hard as he could to prove himself as one of the top contenders in the game.
Now at just 18 years of age, he owns his own house and makes his own rules. He is as motivated as they come, and has a unique style that he adds to every trick he does. I recently got the chance to check out his new pad, hear about some plans for an insane backyard paradise and witness a dialed evening session at one of Pat's local parks. See what Pat has been up to lately and make sure you keep an eye out for him this coming year -- the kid's got skills.
