Missouri Tigers senior forward Laurence Bowers will miss at least two games after suffering what was determined Wednesday to be a sprained MCL in his right knee near the end of a win over Alabama.

Bowers, who leads the No. 10 Tigers in scoring with nearly 17 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding, averaging seven, will sit out games against Mississippi on Saturday and Georgia next Wednesday and will be re-evaluated at the end of next week, the school said in a statement.

An MRI confirmed the extent of the injury and revealed no damage to the ACL or bone.

Bowers, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL in his left knee, finished with 16 points and five rebounds in 31 minutes Tuesday in the SEC season opener and conference debut for the Tigers (12-2, 1-0), an 84-68 win.

Bowers was injured when teammate Phil Pressey landed on his leg underneath the Missouri basket. Bowers smacked his hands together, showing his frustration, when he returned to the end of the bench with about four minutes to go.
