The Chicago Bears will interview Houston Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison for their head-coaching position on Friday, according to a source, and quarterback Jay Cutler said Dennison is a "great" candidate.

Dennison was the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator during Cutler's three seasons in Denver and previously coached the Broncos' offensive line and special teams. The Broncos, who also featured Bears WR Brandon Marshall at the time, averaged 350.5 yards per game during Dennison's three seasons as OC and ranked second in the league in total yards in 2008.

"One of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL," Cutler said during "The Jay Cutler Show" on ESPN 1000. "Great guy off the field. Very, very smart, intellectual guy.

"He's going to get a head-coaching job at some point in his career, I'm certain about that. Great candidate. I have a lot of respect for him."

The interview will take place in Houston, according to ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright. The Texans face the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass., in a divisional playoff game Sunday.

When Cutler was asked if he's happy to see Dennison's name on the coaching list of Bears general manager Phil Emery, the QB said: "Yeah, I think he's definitely a good candidate in there."

Cutler expressed great confidence in Emery's ability to make the right hire, and said that while he does not want to be part of the process, he would do whatever is asked of him.

Dennison is in his third season as the OC for Houston, which ranked seventh in the league in total yards this season. During his first two years in Houston, the Texans set franchise rushing records.

Cutler also had good things to say about a couple of other candidates linked to the Bears' coaching search: Denver OC Mike McCoy, who met with the Bears on Sunday, and Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman (of the Canadian Football League).

McCoy joined the Broncos just prior to Cutler's being traded to the Bears in 2009.

"I liked Mike," Cutler said. "Coming from Carolina, (he) knows a lot about football. Obviously, he's very flexible with being able to make it happen with Kyle Orton, and then (Tim) Tebow and now Peyton (Manning); three very different quarterbacks, three very different systems. They've found ways to make it work, so there's something to be said about that."

Cutler also said he enjoyed his time with Trestman, who worked with Cutler before he was drafted. Thirteen names have been associated with Emery's search.
