I have said it before and I will say it again: Bo Ryan is one of the best college basketball coaches in America.
If you don't believe me, go look at what Wisconsin did at Indiana on Tuesday night.
|Bo Ryan is in his 12th season as coach of Wisconsin. He's posted a record of 268-101 with the Badgers heading into the 2012-13 season.|
It was absolutely shock city, baby! Amazing to see Wisconsin beat this Indiana team in Assembly Hall 64-59. It is a tribute to Bo and his kids to win on the road with first place on the line in the Big Ten.
Then again, Ryan has had Indiana's number lately, as well as Tom Crean's. It is hard to believe Ryan is 9-0 versus Crean.
When Wisconsin was blown out by Florida earlier in the season, there were a lot of naysayers. The Badgers are now 13-4 and 4-0 in the Big Ten. My friends, Ryan's teams find a way to win. They control the tempo of the game, do a great job of passing the ball to get a good shot, utilize that shot selection plus tenacious defense to come up with a formula that equals victories.
Ryan's teams make adjustments. When Josh Gasser went down with a serious injury, they adjusted. Veteran leadership is a positive that makes a difference for the Badgers.
When you think about vital players in the Big Ten, names like Jared Berggren, Mike Bruesewitz and Ben Brust don't always come up. These guys flat-out play hard every possession. Who is undefeated and No. 1 in the Big Ten right now? Be honest: How many of you had the Badgers in the top four in the Big Ten this season?
Talk about a coach who squeezes everything from his players. Just go to Madison and see what happens year in and year out. Ryan is an amazing teacher and his players fit well into his system.
Think about it. Indiana came in averaging more than 80 points per game. Wisconsin held the Hoosiers to 59 points.
Here's a salute to Wisconsin and Bo Ryan on a job well done.
