Dodgers to continue charity game
By Mark Saxon
The Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their tradition of playing a exhibition game in Tucson, Ariz. to benefit the foundation of a young victim of the 2011 mass shooting in that city.
They will face the Chicago Cubs in a spring training game at Kino Stadium on March 21 at 1:05 p.m. The proceeds will go to the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation, whose mission is described as honoring her memory and helping local schoolchildren in need.
Green, the 9-year-old daughter of Dodgers scout John Green and the granddaughter of longtime baseball man Dallas Green, was one of six people killed in the Jan. 8, 2011 attack that injured congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The Dodgers played fundraising exhibition games in Tucson in 2011 and 2012.
