Jordan Morgan sits with ailing ankle

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan Wolverines junior forward Jordan Morgan will not play in Wednesday night's game against Northwestern Wildcats after suffering an ankle injury Sunday against Illinois, according to a Michigan spokesperson.
Morgan had started every game this season for the No. 1-ranked Wolverines, averaging 6.4 points and 5.2 rebounds. This will be the first game Morgan has missed in his Michigan career.
He was with the team Wednesday, but had a walking boot on his right foot.
On Tuesday, Michigan coach John Beilein said it was doubtful whether Morgan would play against the Wildcats after spraining the right ankle in the first half against the Illini. He did not return to that game.
Michigan started sophomore Jon Horford, who has averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds for the Wolverines, in Morgan's place. Freshman Mitch McGary is also expected to see increased minutes in Morgan's absence.
This is the second career start for Horford, the younger brother of Atlanta Hawks All-Star Al Horford.
