Eagles to name Billy Davis DC

ESPN.com news services

The Philadelphia Eagles will hire Billy Davis as the defensive coordinator on coach Chip Kelly's staff, sources confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Davis' addition to Kelly's staff had earlier been reported by multiple media outlets in Philadelphia.

Former Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur is expected to be named the Eagles' offensive coordinator, sources have said.

Davis had been the Browns' linebackers coach the past two seasons. Before that, he was the Arizona Cardinals' defensive coordinator.

The Cardinals fired Davis after a disappointing 2010 season in which Arizona was ranked 29th in overall defense and 30th in points allowed.

Davis also has served as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers (2005-06).

Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter and The Associated Press was used in this report.
