NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson missed his second straight game on Sunday night against the Memphis Grizzlies with a sore left heel.

Johnson initially felt pain in his heel during the two games before the All-Star break.

It's still unknown if Johnson will return for Tuesday night's game in New Orleans.

"(Trainer Tim Walsh) and Joe, I think, are both encouraged that it's gotten better, it's improving clearly," Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "What's he gonna feel like tomorrow, whether he practices tomorrow or how he feels Tuesday, I don't know. But again, obviously we're gonna err (on the side of caution). When he's ready to come back, we'll bring him back."

Johnson, 31, is averaging 17.0 points on 42.3 percent shooting in 55 games for the 33-23 Nets.

C.J. Watson started in Johnson's place for the second straight game.
