American men 1-2 in halfpipe
OSLO, Norway -- David Wise of the United States has won his first halfpipe title at the world freestyle skiing championships.
Wise earned 96.2 points on Tuesday from his first run, leading a 1-2 American finish in Oslo, Norway. World Cup leader Torin Yater-Wallace followed with a first run of 95.6 and Thomas Krief of France was third.
Wise, a four-time U.S. champion, was fourth in the two previous worlds in 2009 and 2011.
Virginie Faivre of Switzerland has regained the title she won in 2009, rallying from third after the first run.
She passed first-run leader Anais Caradeux of France and Ayana Onozuka of Japan with a total of 83.8 in the second run. Caradeux beat qualifying leader Onozuka by 0.2 points for the silver with 80.6.
