Sharrif Floyd to work out March 22
By Michael DiRocco
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Former Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will not participate in the Gators' annual pro day Tuesday because of a minor ankle injury, his agent said Friday.
Jon Perzley said Floyd rolled his ankle at the NFL scouting combine last month and needs some additional time to return to 100 percent. Perzley said Floyd would instead hold a private workout on March 22 at Florida.
The 6-foot-3, 297-pound Floyd had an impressive workout at the combine despite rolling his ankle. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds and had a 30-inch vertical leap. That helped his draft stock, which had been rising rapidly, soar even more.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has Floyd ranked No. 1 on his latest Big Board and Todd McShay of ESPN and Scouts, Inc. has the Oakland Raiders selecting Floyd with the third overall pick in his latest mock draft.
Floyd had 46 tackles, three sacks and a team-high 13 tackles for losses in 2012. He also forced a fumble and blocked two kicks.
