Reichelt, Hoefl-Riesch lead downhill training runs
LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland -- Hannes Reichelt of Austria and Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany were fastest in downhill training runs Tuesday at the season-ending World Cup finals.
Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway was sixth, trailing Reichelt's time of 1 minute, 30.74 seconds by 1.42. Svindal will defend his downhill lead in Wednesday's race and seeks to close the gap on overall World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher of Austria.
Tina Maze of Slovenia was fourth fastest, 0.31 behind Riesch's 1:34.20. Maze looks to sweep the season's crystal globe trophies.
Maze will overtake downhill leader Lindsey Vonn, the five-time defending champion whose season was ended by injury, by finishing in the top 15 on Wednesday.
Hoefl-Riesch and Stacey Cook of the United States, who was 15th fastest Tuesday, also can win the downhill title.
