Former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos will look into the face of a new opponent April 5 when she makes her Invicta Fighting Championships debut.
Santos (10-1 with 1 no-contest) will meet Fiona Muxlow at Invicta FC 5 in Kansas City, Mo. The bout will take place inside Ameristar Casino Hotel.
Muxlow (6-2) replaces Ediane Gomes, who suffered an injury that forced her to withdraw from the fight. The match with Santos will be Muxlow's first with Invicta FC.
A 35-year-old native of Australia, Muxlow seeks to rebound from a first-round submission loss to ex-Strikeforce bantamweight titleholder Marloes Coenen on Dec. 31. The two competed in a featherweight bout at Dream 18 in Saitama, Japan.
Santos returns to action for the first time since Dec. 17, 2011, when she knocked out Hiroko Yamanaka in 16 seconds. The outcome of that fight was overturned by the California State Athletic Commission and deemed a no-contest after Santos tested positive for an anabolic steroid.
Her fighting license was suspended for one year.
Santos signed a multifight deal with Invicta FC shortly after securing her release from UFC in February. UFC does not have a women's 145-pound division, and Santos was unwilling to drop to 135.
