Josh Brent manslaughter trial set
By Calvin Watkins
Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent will have his criminal court case on Sept. 23 according to the Dallas County District Attorney's office.
Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter after he was involved in a car accident that killed teammate and best friend Jerry Brown.
In December, a Texas grand jury indicted Brent in the death of Brown in a Dec. 8 crash in Irving, Texas.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Brent's playing status hasn't been determined by the NFL. League officials are still awaiting legal judgement against Brent before making a determination of punishment.
