Despite an injury to light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson, suffered recently during a training session, UFC president Dana White says the fight Saturday night against Gegard Mousasi is still on.

Gustafsson is scheduled to the face the former Strikeforce titleholder Saturday in Stockholm, Sweden.

But Gustafsson's ability to compete came into question Sunday after Sweden-based website MMAnytt.se revealed that the fighter had been cut above an eye while training and the nation's MMA Federation likely would not clear him to fight.

White later confirmed Gustafsson's injury, but refuted that the federation would likely rule against allowing him to compete Saturday. White said Gustafsson wants to compete and added that the federation has not made a ruling.

"The fight is not off," White told ESPN.com Sunday.

Gustafsson is ranked No. 3 among light heavyweights by ESPN.com. He has a professional record of 15-1 and is currently on a six-fight win streak.

Mousasi (33-3-2) will make his UFC debut against Gustafsson. During his most recent outing, on Jan. 12, Mousasi submitted veteran Mike Kyle in the first round.
