Chris Froome wins Tour of Romandie prologue
BRUSON, Switzerland -- Chris Froome of Britain has won the opening prologue at the Tour of Romandie.
The Sky leader covered the 4.63 miles of rising terrain in 13 minutes, 15 seconds. He was 6 seconds faster than Andrew Talansky of the United States, who rides for Garmin Sharp.
Robert Kiserlovski of Croatia was third for RadioShack Leopard, trailing Froome by 13 seconds.
Froome hopes to follow the success of teammate Bradley Wiggins and Cadel Evans of Australia, the past two Romandie champions. Froome is looking to use a victory as a platform for the Tour de France.
The main mountain stage of the six-day race is Saturday. It ends with a time trial Sunday in Geneva.
