CONCORD, N.C. -- Paul Menard will remain in the No. 27 Richard Childress Racing Sprint Cup car beyond this season.
RCR announced on Friday that Menard and Menards, the home improvement store owned by Menard's family that sponsors the car, signed a multiyear extension.
Menard is 11th in points this season. In 2011, when he joined RCR, he recorded his first Cup win in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"He has shown his ability to be consistent, competitive and win on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series level," team owner Richard Childress said in a statement. "Having [crew chief] 'Slugger' Labbe and the entire crew coming back gives us something to build on to win more races, make The Chase and contend for a championship."
RCR will be in a transition year in 2014 with Kevin Harvick already set to join Stewart-Haas Racing after this season and Childress' grandson Austin Dillon set to move into NASCAR's top series.
