Oxbow, Golden Soul work

Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow, stablemate Will Take Charge, and Kentucky Derby runner-up Golden Soul all turned in preparations for the June 8 Belmont Stakes on the morning of May 30 at Churchill Downs.

Oxbow and Will Take Charge both went six furlongs for Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas. Oxbow, a son of Awesome Again owned by Calumet Farm, clocked the distance in 1:14 3/5 from the 5 ½-furlong pole with splits of :24 1/5, :35 4/5, :47 3/5, and 1:00 3/5. He galloped out seven panels in 1:29 2/5.

Willis Horton's Rebel Stakes winner Will Take Charge, an Unbridled's Song colt who last ran seventh in the May 18 Preakness, was timed in 1:15 4/5 from the 5 1/2-furlong pole. Splits were :12 4/5, :24 3/5, :37 2/5, and :50 2/5, with a seven-furlong gallop out in 1:30 3/5.

Golden Soul, breezing for trainer Dallas Stewart for the first time since his Derby run, went five panels in 1:00 2/5 while recording splits of :12 1/5, :24 3/5, :36 4/5, and :48 3/5. Charles Fipke's homebred son of Perfect Soul galloped out six furlongs in 1:13 1/5 and up seven in 1:28.
