On the hardwood, LeBron James showed why they called him the King. James solidified his second consecutive MVP trophy by netting 37 points in the closeout game of the NBA Finals, which tied the most-ever points scored in a Finals Game 7 win. Now, Patrick Kane didn't have his best performance in the final game of the Stanley Cup finals but his work throughout the playoffs was more than enough. Kane is now the third-straight American-born player, and fourth all-time, to win the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Rounding out the top five is a trio of athletes who represent the U.S.A. Tyson Gay lit up the track with wins in the 100 and 200 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Championships, while Abby Wambach and Asia Durr had their names etched in the record book with amazing offensive feats.
