'Dude' works for Gold Cup

Bloodhorse

Game On Dude zipped four furlongs in :47 4/5 over the artificial surface at Betfair Hollywood Park the morning of July 1 as the gelding worked toward a defense of his title in the July 6 Hollywood Gold Cup.

The time for the son of Awesome Again was third-best among 54 working that distance at Hollywood Park.

Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for a partnership that includes Joe Torre's Diamond Pride LLC, the Lanni Family Trust, Ernie Moody's Mercedes Stable, and Bernie Schiappa, Game On Dude has won 13 of 25 and earned $4,702,158.

Most recently, the 6-year-old won the $1.5 million Charles Town Classic Stakes and earlier this year won the Santa Anita Handicap for the second time.
