The Arizona Cardinals signed kicker Dan Carpenter to a one-year deal Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Carpenter was recently released by the Miami Dolphins, losing his training camp competition for a job to rookie Caleb Sturgis.
Interestingly, Carpenter took current Cardinals kicker Jay Feely's job in Miami when the two competed for the job in 2008. The two are now expected to compete for Arizona's kicking job going into this season.
Carpenter reached the Pro Bowl in 2009 and holds the Dolphins' record with a 60-yard field goal in 2010. He went 22-for-27 last year, but he's only 10-for-20 in his career from 50 yards and beyond.
Feely, 37, made 25 of his 28 field goal attempts last season and was perfect in 25 extra-point tries.
