New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was scheduled to appear in a Lincoln, Neb., courthouse Tuesday for a probation violation hearing, but the hearing was rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, a court administrator said.
The new hearing date is just a day before the team is scheduled to travel to Buffalo for its regular-season opener.
The hearing stems from a July arrest on charges that Dennard was driving under the influence in Lincoln and may determine if that violated the two years of probation he received after an April 2012 incident in which he was found guilty of assault of a police officer.
Dennard, who has been limited recently by an undisclosed injury, became a starter for the Patriots during his rookie season after being selected in the seventh round of the 2012 draft.
Dennard projects to be one of the team's top three cornerbacks this season, along with Aqib Talib and Kyle Arrington.
