Associated Press

FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Gold Rocks and Ideal Helen were easy winners in their respective divisions of the Lou Babic Memorial for 2-year-old pacers on Saturday at Freehold Raceway.

Gold Rocks captured the $96,200 Babic Open by 4½ lengths over Useful Hanover. George Brennan drove the Tony Alagna-trained colt over the mile in a career-best 1:54.4.

Ideal Helen ($4) took the $61,900 Babic Filly by three-quarters of a length over Beautiful Lady in a stakes record 1:54.3. Marcus Miller drove the daughter of Western Ideal, who eclipsed the stakes record of 1:55.1 set by Happy Dreamer in 2007.

Ideal Helen now has three wins and two seconds in eight tries.
