BALTIMORE -- Ravens running back Ray Rice was inactive for Sunday's victory against the Houston Texans.
Rice sustained a hip flexor strain in last Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns and didn't practice all week.
Backup Bernard Pierce made his first NFL start, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore's 30-9 win.
Rice's streak of 43 straight starts had been the longest active one for running backs. It marked the first time Rice didn't play in a game since a wild-card game at Miami in 2008.
