PROVO, Utah -- A suspended BYU player says he violated the school's honor code by drinking alcohol and partying in Las Vegas.
Sports Illustrated reported Wednesday that 23-year-old Spencer Hadley was ashamed of his actions. He plans to stay at BYU and is asking forgiveness.
Hadley didn't break any laws in his multiple trips to Las Vegas, but he violated the Mormon-owned college's honor code, which prohibits using alcohol and drugs and engaging in premarital sex.
The senior linebacker from Connell, Wash., missed last weekend's game against rival Utah and can't rejoin the team until the Cougars play Boise State on Oct. 25, at the earliest.
Hadley is Mormon and served a mission. He told SI that he went to clubs in Las Vegas because he was curious.
