Arizona Cardinals team president Michael Bidwill, a licensed pilot, flew eight team members on his private jet Saturday to Memphis, Tenn., to attend the funeral services for the father of defensive tackle Dan Williams, team spokesman Mark Dalton confirmed.
Thomas Williams, the late father of the team's former first-round pick, was killed in a car crash near Jackson, Miss., en route from Memphis to see the Cardinals and his son play in New Orleans last weekend.
Bidwill also piloted the group back to Florida, where the team plays the Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday.
Most of the players Bidwill flew to Memphis were Williams' defensive line teammates, as well as defensive line coach Brenston Buckner. Williams will not play Sunday against the Buccaneers. He also was excused from last week's game against the Saints.
