Bajan wins Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park

Associated Press

INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Bajan won the $100,000 Moccasin Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 21/4 lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Bajan ran seven furlongs on Cushion Track in 1:24.26 and paid $3.60, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 4-5 favorite.

For Emma returned $3.80 and $2.80, and Lemon de Oro was another 41/4 lengths back in third and paid $3 to show.

Bajan trailed the field early before Espinoza angled her outside pacesetter Sergeant O'Rourke and Lemon de Oro for the stretch run.

"She's very easy to ride and when I ask her to go she's quick, really fast," Espinoza said. "It's nice to ride horses like that. She's such a nice filly right now and she's still learning."

Bajan has three wins in five career starts and earnings of $159,150.
