Francona signs with SFX Sports

BOSTON -- Now that he's the manager of a World Series champion, Terry Francona has some help in handling what promises to be a busy offseason.

The Red Sox manager signed with the sports management group SFX
Sports to represent him in contract talks, endorsements and
speaking engagements.

Eric Wold, an agent in SFX's Washington office who will
represent Francona in public speaking engagements, would not
comment on Francona's speaking fee. Pat Rooney, an agent with SFX
Baseball Group in Chicago, said his office will handle Francona's
contract talks and endorsement deals.

Rooney told the Boston Herald the agency is in discussions with
a couple of advertisers that could use Francona, but he said no
deals are set.

Francona was given a three-year deal by the Red Sox nearly a
year ago, with an option for a fourth. In his first year, the Red
Sox won their first world championship since 1918.

Other SFX speaking clients include tennis star Andre Agassi,
Kansas City Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil and broadcasters Al Michaels
and Chris Berman. SFX Baseball also represents Red Sox slugger
David Ortiz and pitcher Pedro Martinez.
