Before reporting to spring training, Rodriguez holds a press conference in which he apologizes for taking banned substances from 2001-03, and says his cousin provided the PEDs.
The Titans' former MVP quarterback Steve McNair is killed after being shot multiple times in the head and chest by his mistress in an apparent murder-suicide.
Michael Vick is released after serving 23 months on a dogfighting conviction -- the last 60 days in home confinement. Less than a month later, he signs a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After reports of infidelity surface in a tabloid, Tiger Woods is injured after crashing into a fire hydrant and tree outside his mansion at 2 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving. Woods apologizes and announces he's taking a break from golf to focus on being "a better husband, father and person."
