"I usually try to start my slide early--five to seven steps from the base. I have so much momentum that if I wait any longer, I'll go all the way over the bag and then get caught."
Ben Revere is best known for his circus catches, but Philly's leadoff man is also a burner on the basepaths. "I dive all over the place in center field, so stealing bases comes naturally," says the 26-year-old, who stole 74 bases in his first two full MLB seasons. "Now I have the green light to steal anytime. I'm trying to get 50 or 60. It's about getting in position for the big guys to drive me in." The trickiest part of being a speed demon? Stopping.
