Michigan International Speedway

Located between Detroit and Chicago, Michigan International Speedway is an important stop on the NASCAR circuit, as it is the home track for most automotive manufacturers.
It's a 2-mile D-shaped oval in the Irish Hills of southern Michigan. The first 2011 race here was the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 on June 19, the 15th race of the season. The circuit is back just two months later for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400, the circuit's 23rd race.
The track demands a lot from engines, so attrition is always a factor at Michigan. But drivers love it because there is a lot of room to pass.
