"Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12" was not only one of the fastest-selling golf games EA ever made, it was the first in franchise history not to actually feature Tiger on the cover. And while "Tiger 12" featured Augusta National and The Masters on the front of box, with "Tiger 13," EA Sports is looking to once again feature Tiger in the spotlight, along with a second golfer who will be voted on by fans.
And if the "Madden" cover vote that Peyton Hillis won by a shocking landslide is any indication, expect the unexpected.
"Throughout the history of our franchise, we've always been about getting the fans involved," explains Craig Evans, the game's marketing director. "Last year, with Augusta National, that's something the fans have wanted in a PGA Tour game for years. The desire to play Augusta National has been around since the dawn of video game golf. We finally got there and the fans were extremely excited about it. So we just thought to ourselves, our community and fan involvement is always such a critical part of our game's development, why not let our fans involved in on our marketing as well."
The "Tiger" cover vote is taking place on Facebook, and there are two brackets -- one for the U.S. market and one for the European market -- with the two winners appearing on the cover for their respective regions.
Golfers in the U.S. bracket include Bubba Watson, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Zach Johnson, Hunter Mahan, and Rocco Mediate, while the European bracket consists of Paul Casey, Luke Donald, Ross Fisher, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, and Edoardo Molinari.Read More »
