EA Sports does it again

When the New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI and Eli Manning was named the game's MVP, all I could do was shake my head. EA Sports had done it again.

For the seventh time in the last nine seasons, EA Sports correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner utilizing the advanced Artificial Intelligence of their best-selling "Madden" video game, and they even managed to get some of the stats eerily similar to how the game played out for real Sunday night.

Here's a comparison of how EA saw the game compared to what happened in real life:

FINAL SCORE:

  • Actual score: Giants 21, Patriots 17

  • Simulated score: Giants 27, Patriots 24

    ELI MANNING:

  • Actual passing stats: 30/40 for 296 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (MVP)

  • Simulated passing stats: 25/39 for 342 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT (MVP)

    TOM BRADY:

  • Actual passing stats: 27/41 for 276 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

  • Simulated passing stats: 28/42 for 327 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT

    AHMAD BRADSHAW:

  • Actual rushing stats: 17 for 72 yards, 1 TD

  • Simulated rushing stats: 21 for 82 yards, 1 TD

    BENJARVUS GREEN-ELLIS:

  • Actual rushing stats: 10 for 44 yards, 0 TD

  • Simulated rushing stats: 13 for 41 yards, 0 TD

    LAWRENCE TYNES:

  • Actual field goals made/attempted: 2/2

  • Simulated field goals made/attempted: 2/2

    STEPHEN GOSTKOWSKI:

  • Actual field goals made/attempted: 1/1

  • Simulated field goals made/attempted: 1/1

    JUSTIN TUCK:

  • Actual sack stats: 2 sacks

  • Simulated sack stats: 2 sacks
