BC dismisses Bryant from team over academic performance

BOSTON -- Boston College forward Andrew Bryant has been dismissed from the team for academic reasons, coach Al Skinner said Friday.

Bryant, a native of Denison, Texas, played two seasons with the Eagles, averaging 7.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 30 games last season. The 6-foot-7 forward scored in double figures in eight games.

A message left at Skinner's office Friday was not immediately returned. A college spokeswoman also did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

In November 2001, Bryant was suspended briefly from the team and school for allegedly violating a restraining order within hours of his girlfriend obtaining one against him.
