Louisiana-Monroe steps up ticket sales

MONROE, La. -- With another week to go, Louisiana-Monroe is still short of the 7,500 goal for season ticket sales this year.

The school has recorded 4,081 tickets sold as they begin a final push, said Louisiana-Monroe athletics director Bruce Hanks.

"The 4,000 doesn't include corporate sales, which we've sold but have to get into the count," Hanks said. "That will give us a spurt by including those in the count. We're trying to go down the list now and make sure that we touch everybody before now and our first home game."

Ticket orders that have been processed are being mailed this week.

ULM launched its "True Grit" campaign in early June with a goal of selling 7,500 tickets. Last year the school sold more than 6,000 through a similar campaign.

"We still have a lot of people who have said they're going to buy tickets but they haven't gotten it done yet," Hanks said. "It's kind of the nature of ticket sales. Unless you're running out, people wait to the last minute to make that order or pay the check.

"We're only counting them when we receive the money."
