Cornhuskers work out two hours in half-pads
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska football players peeled off some of their pads Tuesday as workouts began winding down before this weekend's season opener.
"We went through a half-pad practice today and got a lot of teamwork done," Nebraska coach Frank Solich said. "We worked again on all phases of special teams play."
The Cornhuskers will shed all pads Wednesday when they will practice in shorts.
"That will give them a little bit of a break from the pads, but we'll continue to polish teamwork and of course special teams," Solich said.
The Huskers open the season Saturday afternoon against No. 24 Oklahoma State.
