PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Alcorn State had a 24-point second-half burst and took advantage of several Arkansas-Pine Bluff miscues in its 37-10 win Saturday night.

Alcorn State led 13-3 at halftime and added to its advantage early in the third quarter. The Braves took over near midfield after an Arkansas-Pine Bluff punt. Michael Sellers missed a 37-yard field goal and 24-yard try after drilling a 37-yarder. The Golden Lions also wasted a 45-yard kick-off return by Cedric Bowen that landed the Golden Lions in Alcorn State territory. Another scoring chance was squandered when wide receiver Adelras Johnson fumbled on the Alcorn State 23-yard line.

The Braves solidified their lead in the third when cornerback Tyrone Parsons intercepted Golden Lions quarterback Antonio Lovelady on the Arkansas-Pine Bluff 10-yard line and got an easy touchdown. The extra point made it 27-3.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Golden Lions' Cedric Bowen had the kick bounce off of him into the end zone. Bowen hesitated, then zig-zagged his way 100 yards to the end zone. Michael Sellers added the extra point to cut the lead to 27-10 with 3:21 to play in the third.

McConnell tacked on three points to the Alcorn State lead when he hit a 24-yard field goal with 5:49 to go to make it 30-10.

James Bolden capped off the scoring for Alcorn State with a short TD with just over six minutes to go in the game.
