Brooks has chance with Cowboys
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- A year after his arrest on drug and weapons charges and dismissal from the Arkansas team, defensive lineman Jermaine Brooks is trying out for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys have not released any information about Brooks' status but Brooks told Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles on Wednesday that he'd made the Cowboys' squad.
In March, Brooks was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended. But, a plea bargain with prosecutors allowed Brooks to enter a boot camp program and he was released in late August. Brooks remains on probation for 10 years.
Brooks had been arrested on drugs and weapons charges for selling marijuana out of his apartment near the Fayetteville campus.
