Alabama's Britt breaks leg
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama offensive tackle Wesley Britt broke his left leg in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Tennessee.
Britt was carted off on a stretcher after several minutes, exhorting his teammates and pumping his fist at the fans as he left to loud applause. His younger brother, freshman defensive tackle Taylor, spoke to him briefly while the medical staff tended to Britt on the field.
Coach Mike Shula confirmed the leg was broken after the game, but didn't offer further details.
"Your heart goes out to him," Shula said.
Britt, a junior preseason All-SEC pick, has started 34 games in his Tide career. He is on the watch list for the Lombardi Award given to the nation's top collegiate lineman.
