Near-perfect Nichols looking like an All-American for Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. -- Jonathan Nichols has been close to perfect for Mississippi this season.
The Ole Miss kicker was 4-for-4 on field goals as the Rebels defeated Arkansas 19-7 Saturday night, scoring the Rebels' last 12 points.
Ole Miss coach David Cutcliffe said he wouldn't trade Nichols for any kicker in the country.
"It feels good to have him say that," the junior said.
He hit field goals of 20, 24, 42 and 25 yards.
"The 42 yarder put us up 16-7 (in the fourth quarter) and that helped me relax a little more because that put us up two scores," Nichols said. "The way our defense was playing I felt that was going to be enough."
Nichols is now 22-for-23 this season with four 50-yard field goals. He broke his own school record for scoring for a kicker with the 13-point night.
He has 97 points and is looking like an All-American.
He's even getting a little bit of luck.
Nichols missed a 26-yard field goal with less than a minute left in the first half, but the Razorbacks were called for too many men of the field, which gave him another chance.
Nichols then booted a 20-yarder to put Ole Miss up 10-7 at half.

The Razorbacks began the season unranked, then rose all the way to seventh in the country after a 4-0 start.
No. 21 Arkansas is now in danger of falling out of the polls after a third straight loss.
"We have to execute and put points on the board," quarterback Matt Jones said. "You aren't going to win if you don't put points on the board."
^BOWLING@: Representatives from the Independence, Citrus and Cotton bowls were in attendance, checking out the Razorbacks and Rebels.
Ole Miss has been to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., three times in the last five years, including last season.
The Rebels became bowl eligible for the seventh straight season.
