Silverette wins $100,000 Caress Stakes at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Silverette moved to the lead with more than a furlong left and held off a late bid by Spun Cap to win the $100,000 Caress Stakes for fillies and mares by a neck Friday at Saratoga Race Course.

Robby Albarado rode the Dale Romans-trained 4-year-old, who ran 5½ furlongs over turf in 1:01.27. She earned $60,000 for owner Paul Pompa Jr. and paid $9.40, $4.90 and $3.40.

Spun Cap returned $4.90 and $3.10. Madame Giry, third of 10, paid $2.70 to show.
