NEW YORK -- Comments on the New Orleans Saints by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

Chris Berman (ESPN, 16) -- Who knows where they'd be without September.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 19) -- They'd like to finish 8-8, after falling short of expectations.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 14)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 17) -- The defense (ranked No. 32) has been their Achilles' heel all season.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 14) -- They're only playing for pride, but the Saints are doing so with gusto. Their OT win over Dallas makes them 7-4 since their disastrous start.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 16) -- The Saints are playing their best football in December. But it's too little, too late for Drew Brees & Co.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 15) -- Finally, mercifully, the season is about to come to a close for the Saints. It was an unforgettable experience, and, no, that's not a good thing.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 14) -- You'd better believe they wish the season was starting anew this weekend.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 15) -- The most dangerous team not going to the playoffs. As Bill Cowher said to me Sunday, 'I wouldn't want to play them right now.' Too bad their last game isn't against a playoff contender so they could play the spoiler.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 16)

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 19) -- The Saints have more points (423) than eight of the 10 teams that have clinched playoff spots, but will be sitting home in January.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 17) -- The best they can hope for is to finish the season with a three game win streak and a .500 record.
