STATS OF THE DAY: In their five-set match, Marcel Granollers and Tim Smyczek were separated by one set (Granollers 3-2), one game (Smyczek 24-23) and one point (Granollers 147-146). They were identical with 10 aces, three double faults, 113 mph average first-serve speed and 84 mph second-serve speed. Conversely, Smyczek hit 73 winners to just 32 for Granollers, while Granollers had 29 unforced errors to 64 for Smyczek.
