Russian shot putter banned 2 years for doping

MOSCOW -- Star Russian shot putter Anna Avdeyeva has been suspended for two years for doping.

The Russian Athletics Federation says on its website that the 2011 European indoor champion tested positive for the steroid oral turinabol on July 30 while training outside Moscow.

Avdeyeva will miss the world indoor championships in Poland next year. The suspension began Aug. 5 and ends Aug. 4, 2015.
