Chastain grew through sports

Brandi Chastain became an icon after after scoring the fifth kick in the penalty shootout to give the United States the win over China at the Women's World Cup at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Chastain spontaneously whipped off her jersey and fell to her knees in a sports bra in celebration.

Chastain started playing soccer at the age of 8 and helped Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Calif., to three straight state championships. She played college soccer at Cal and Santa Clara.

Chastain is now involved in several charitable organizations and works to help other in the community. She also enjoys soccer, golf and running.
