Training begins for Sage Steele

When espnW and runDisney challenged SportsCenter anchor Sage Steele to train for and complete the Feb. 26th Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World, she was slightly apprehensive. After all, she has never attempted to run this sort of distance and isn't exactly drowning in free time as a busy mother of three. So why did she say yes?

"Accomplishing something like this would set a great example for my kids," she said. "And I like to think that when this is over I will actually enjoy running and want to continue doing it."

And if, as a result, her legs happen to look great, she said she's OK with that, too.

Her trainer, Olympian and world-renowned running coach Jeff Galloway has put together a Run-Walk-Run program that will not only prepare her for the race, but do so in a way that protects her from injury and is accessible enough that, come race day, he's confident she'll be a running convert.

Check here daily for updates on Sage's training, including personal videos, advice from pros like Jennie Finch and Lauren Fleshman and Galloway's tips for anyone interested in starting a running program. And, hey, it's not too late to sign up and run with Sage!
